Fulton County hires new CIO/director of IT

Fulton County Wednesday announced it has hired Maurice Ficklin as its new chief information officer and director of information technology.

Ficklin formerly held the same position for the Dougherty County School System in Albany. He brings to Fulton nearly 30 years of experience in information technology including 25 years at the management level.

At the Dougherty district Ficklin was responsible for providing leadership, strategy and planning for the IT department for one of the largest school districts in southwest Georgia. Before taking that job he served as director of infrastructure and operations for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). In this role at MARTA, he maintained accountability for diverse areas including, network management, systems management, help desk, data center, technology asset management and others.

“We are very pleased to have a CIO of Mr. Ficklin’s caliber and experience to join our award-winning IT team”, County Manager Dwight Ferrell said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing him guide the department to the next level and incorporating greater innovation into our current technology.”
