The new school year is set to start Aug. 12 for Fulton County Schools and Aug. 7 for Atlanta Public Schools. The Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness will kick off the Back to School Immunization Rush Monday. This year’s immunization and vision and hearing screenings will be held at three points of dispensing.

Accepted forms of payment include: Visa and MasterCard, Cash, Medicaid, United HealthCare and CIGNA. For financial assistance, clients must present proof of income. Non-Fulton County residence will be charged the full fee for services.

The back-to-school vaccinations kick-off locations will be open Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.:

o Adamsville Regional Health Center - (404) 613-4215

o College Park Regional Health Center - (404) 765-4155

o North Fulton Regional Health Center (Alpharetta) - (404) 612-1876

Parents or legal guardians should be aware that children are required to have certain vaccinations in order to attend public school. Children who do not have proper vaccinations could be sent home until they are in compliance.

What should parents/guardians bring to the location?

o Your child’s immunization records.

o Children entering kindergarten and those new to Georgia: immunization certificate, Georgia Form 3231 and a Dental, Vision and Hearing Form 3300.

What are the required immunizations?

o Children entering kindergarten: May need a second dose of varicella (chicken pox), measles and mumps vaccines and a booster dose of DTap and IPV.

o Children entering the sixth grade: May need another dose of chicken pox vaccine if they have not had chicken pox disease and another dose of MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella). It is recommended that children ages 11 to 12 also receive TDap, Meningitis and HPV.

o High school and college students: Meningitis vaccine that prevents meningococcal disease.

All parents are encouraged to take advantage of the Rush locations to be ready for school. Vaccinations are available at all Fulton County Health Centers on an ongoing basis, for any families who are unable to attend this special back-to-school event.
