“Because of the grant we’re able to provide rape aggression training, defense training to the women of Milton ages 13 and up,” said Community Outreach Officer Ara Baronian.
Baronian said back in May he and another officer were certified by RAD as instructors and they plan to start offering defense classes with the new materials purchased with the grant.
“We just currently got re-certified for the aggression/aggressor defense class last week,” he said. “We are continuing the program and will be offering to the women of Milton actually in October and throughout the year.”
Jan Fowler, president of the Milton Public Safety Fund, said they have been able to give more than $22,000 for equipment and materials for the Milton public safety efforts.
The Milton Public Safety Fund was founded in 2007 by local leaders. It is a nonprofit corporation providing support for the Milton Police and Fire Departments.
Mayor Joe Lockwood said a special thank you to Fowler and the Milton Public Safety Fund and their efforts.
“You guys have done a great job,” he said. “I know all our public safety officials and staff are really appreciative too.”
Fowler said the fund is in their latest fundraiser at this time. They are selling flower bulbs through Flower Power Fundraising.
