An unfortunate deja vu seems to have occurred with voters reporting problems with Fulton County Registration and Elections on Election Day.

In July, Fulton County Elections was late reporting numbers for the primary elections. This Election Day, several voters have reported frustrations when they arrived at the polling locations and were told they were not in the system.

"It's very disappointing for myself and the voters in the state," said Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Kemp said conversations with Fulton County before the election ensured the county's election procedures were on track.

"The last few days we've been getting reports that wasn't the case," he said.

A representative from Fulton County could not be reached, but at a press conference this evening, Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections board chairman Roderick E. Edmond said the county was prepared for today's election.

Despite assurances registered voters had been entered into the system, Kemp said his office was flooded with calls, emails and messages through social media claiming the opposite once the polls opened today.

"It's really the only problem we've had," he said of Election Day. "Things have gone well except for that unfortunate situation in Fulton."

Kemp said his office will work through the next few days to make sure provisional ballots submitted by voters who found themselves "not in the system" are counted.

Additionally, Kemp said this issue is not going to go by without scrutiny.

"I'm looking at options to where we go in the future to get this resolved," he said.
