Gary Miller, a certified public accountant with a law degree from Georgia State University, has worked at GreyStone for 20 years and has been on the WellStar board for 11 years.
“Over the years, I have seen the impact WellStar has on our community,” Miller said, adding he will continue to work with the board and WellStar leadership to build on the vision for the system — “to deliver world-class health care.”
Miller will take over for current chair Janie Maddox, whose two year term expires this year. Maddox will remain a board member.
“WellStar is fortunate to have an active board of trustees,” Maddox said. “Gary Miller’s wealth of experience from a corporate and community perspective will continue to be a great asset to our system and the five counties WellStar serves.”
Along with Miller’s appointment, Dr. David Hafner will become vice chair and then take over as chair when Miller’s term ends in 2016.
Hafner is a partner at Vascular Surgical Associates PC in Marietta and serves as the medical director of WellStar’s vascular lab. He is board certified in vascular surgery and a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery.
