GreyStone Power will feature door prizes, live music, energy savings tips, children’s activities and more during its annual Meeting of Members at the cooperative’s Douglasville office Oct. 12

GreyStone spokeswoman Vicki Harshbarger said the meeting’s theme is “the power of member connections.” Cooperative officials are inviting GreyStone customers to celebrate the theme during the event, which also will include approval of bylaws changes, discussion of future goals, a recap of GreyStone’s past year and election of three unopposed directors.

“Everyone who receives power from GreyStone is a valued member of the co-op,” Harshbarger said.

The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at GreyStone’s headquarters at 4040 Bankhead Highway in Douglasville.

Registration will be in GreyStone’s auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. Members can bring an electric bill to simplify the registration process.

The fairgrounds will be open throughout the morning with inflatables for children, games, balloon artists, face painters and more.

GreyStone’s Energy Efficiency Expo will help members learn simple ways to save money by saving energy. Residential Energy Services Department Manager Rudy Echols will present seminars at 8, 9 and 10 a.m. Country-rock group the Tyler Hammond Band will perform at 9:45 a.m.

The official business meeting of members featuring information about GreyStone’s future goals and the cooperative’s successful past year is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Directors without opposition from Districts 3, 5 and 9 will be elected by voice vote. No candidates were nominated through petition by members. During the business meeting, members also will vote on proposed amendments to the cooperative’s bylaws.

This year’s annual meeting will give members the chance to connect with local businesses and learn about the exclusive discounts they offer. Soldiers’ Angels will also be at the event, so members can donate needed items for troops and sign Christmas cards to be sent to soldiers overseas.

The event will conclude with door-prize giveaways, including a 2002 Chevy C1500 truck retired from the GreyStone fleet.
