For the ninth year in a row, the Buckhead Business Association will host its annual A Taste of Buckhead Business Expo Thursday.

The event is to benefit the association’s Community Alliance, which gives resources and financial support to organizations in Buckhead.

It will be at the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel and Conference Center, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. “This year, the BBA has set its probably most ambitious goal ever,” said association President Brian Daughdrill. “This will be one of the biggest sources of revenue.”

He said the association has reached about three-quarters of its goal budgeted this year, which is focused on three projects: arts, education and greenspace in Buckhead. The organization hopes to raise between $15,000 and $20,000 for the community projects, Daughdrill said. There will be between 25 and 30 businesses represented this year, plus 16 area restaurants will be handing out samples.

Daughdrill said his favorite part of the event is the food. “You can’t go anywhere in Atlanta to get a tapas meal for $25,” he said. “It’s a good opportunity for networking, too. … This will be a crowd from 700 to 1,000 people, with lots of opportunities to see and be seen and meet new people.”

Daughdrill said the association tries to target businesses which can create a visual in their display, or handouts, like Brooks Brothers.“They’ll put on a full display,” he said, “I’m a lawyer, so it’s hard for me to display that.”

Karen Losin, the association’s vice president for the event, said, “We’ll have a networking room … for folks to come and meet, and talk with some of our wonderful businesses here in Buckhead.”

She said registration and cash bars open at 5 p.m., and the ballroom doors open at 6 p.m.

There will also be drawings for door prizes like restaurant gift certificates and gift baskets.

“This is our chance to make money that will go directly back to foundation, [and] to the community. We’re taking it to a higher level,” Losin said. “I am excited about really turning this into a great fundraiser so we can really give back to Buckhead.”
