LYLBox, which stands for Live Your Life Box, is a home-delivery service for feminine products.
“Women are just so busy these days,” said Evert, 26, a Buckhead native and Harvard Business School student.
“If they’re anything like me, they forget to go buy pads and tampons before it’s too late,” she said.
The small startup company’s website was launched Monday and started beta testing. It will be open to the public July 15, Evert said.
While she is aware of existing competitors, such as Amazon.com and some other similar startups, The Pace graduate said she is hopeful for LYLBox’s success.
“This is completely customizable. You can’t do that at Amazon,” she said.
Each box comes a month at a time for $10 — including shipping, which is the same price most people will pay at their local pharmacy, Evert said.
“We provide that customer service and make sure you have exactly what you need before,” she said.
Evert said the most common demographic to use LYLBox will be women 18 to 30 — the same group who is most familiar with shopping online already, she said.
“Those girls [are] going off to college and don’t have a car,” she said.
And Brookhaven resident Kate Henry, 27, who helped in the beta testing, said she is excited for LYLBox because she works full-time and travels for a living.
“It’s absolutely reasonable,” she said. “ I would probably pay a little more for the convenience and just not having to think about it.”
Henry said she also likes the discreet white box the feminine products arrive in.
“That’ll be good because the one thing I’d be most concerned about is having a huge box show up that says ‘Playtex,’” she said.
Evert said the company will be offering products from Tampax, Playtex, Always, U by Kotex, o.b. and Natracare.
Additionally, she hopes to form a social partnership with a new startup nonprofit She Innovates.
“They are helping women in Africa make pads from banana leaves. Currently they’re using things that aren’t sanitary,” Evert said.
She hopes to begin offering customers the option of adding $1 to each LYLBox shipment to be donated to She Innovates within six months.
