Incumbents qualify for November election in north Fulton

Ending months of speculation on his intentions, Roswell Mayor Jere Wood was the first candidate to file paperwork for reelection on Monday morning.

The four-term mayor said he is going for a fifth term because “I still enjoy the job, I still can be effective and can do things for Roswell.”

As of midday Tuesday, council incumbents Nancy Diamond and Kent Igleheart had also qualified for the November ballot.

Councilman Jerry Orlans had not yet filed, according to City Clerk Marlee Press.

The candidate qualifying period in Roswell is ongoing until 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Milton has four elected officials in races and one special election in November.

Qualifying lasts until Friday, 4:30 p.m.

Incumbents Karen Thurman and Bill Lusk have qualified for reelection.

Mayor Joe Lockwood and Councilman Joe Longoria have not yet filed as of midday Tuesday,

Former Milton councilman Rick Mohrig has qualified for the special election to fill the seat of Councilman Lance Large, who is moving out of state.

As of close of day on Monday, Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker and councilmembers Randall Johnson, Karen Richardson and Kelly Stewart submitted the qualifying paperwork for their respective posts.

In Alpharetta, only incumbent councilmen Donald Mitchell, Mike Kennedy and Chris Owens, in Posts 1, 2 and 3 respectively, had qualified as of midday Tuesday.

The qualifying period in Alpharetta ends at 4:30 p.m. today.
