The fast-food chain Krystal will move its headquarters to Dunwoody, Mayor Mike Davis announced last week during a city council meeting.

“We’re thrilled to have another corporate headquarters moving into Dunwoody,” he said.

The city’s economic development director, Michael Starling, said the new headquarters will be in the Lincoln Parkway Building at 1455 Lincoln Pkwy. The company — known for its small, square burgers — is moving its headquarters from Chattanooga, Tenn., where Krystal was founded in 1932.

“The new location better positions them to existing and new markets,” Starling said. “By locating to Dunwoody, Krystal is closer to an airport that provides easy access to all of their markets and will provide support to company stores and franchise partners.”

He added the city did not offer any special initiatives for the company to relocate to Dunwoody.

Starling said the company plans to begin its transition this month but that it will take several months to completely move to the new location. He anticipates some renovation work will be done to prepare the 23,000-square-foot space.

“Krystal’s relocation brings jobs and economic growth to the city,” he said. “The relocation will add approximately 60 jobs. These are anticipated to be high-level, executive positions.”

According to Krystal’s website, there are no restaurants currently operating within city limits. The closest locations to Dunwoody are 1055 Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell and 6155 Peachtree Pkwy. in Norcross.

Starling said the city is not aware of any Krystal restaurants opening in Dunwoody at this time.

Additional new businesses coming to the city are Mojo Burrito — another Chattanooga-based company — and Café at Pharr, said Davis. Both eateries will be located in the Dunwoody Village Shopping Center.
