Now, we have video [of former Bartow County School Board member Angie Cornett]. Obviously there was room to park a vehicle at the point where Mrs. Cornett started her turn. Equally obvious the student intentionally moves into the path, but not in front, of the vehicle. Here’s where a zoom-in would help, but it is equally obvious that the vehicle doesn’t “lurch forward.”

Now comes the other physical evidence … the jean’s leg … the right leg. Obviously the student had turned to face the vehicle rather than move back out of the way or proceed across the parking space to get out of the way (which she obviously had time to do).

And, it is equally arguable that the student side-stepped further toward the radius of the vehicle’s turning path. If “additional charges” may be brought, why not charge the student with disorderly conduct for inciting the situation and obstructing public access in the first place?

Though it appears Mrs. Cornett’s got this beat, perhaps she’ll become an advocate for teaching students respect for public and private property rights, something they’re apparently not getting at home!
