The new location opened Monday at 305 Brookhaven Ave., Suite 1250 in the Town Brookhaven plaza across from Costco. It offers the same comforting atmosphere as its original spot. The franchise is named after the Geyers’ beloved golden retriever Lucky, who will soon turn 8.
Geyer, who has been a builder/developer for years, became fast friends with Lucky, especially during a time when he needed that companionship the most, said Mrs. Geyer.
“That dog is the love of my husband’s life,” she said. She added it was only fitting the couple combined the two things they loved the most — Lucky and burgers. A unique aspect of the family-friendly business is the acceptance of pets, which are welcomed on the outside patio where freshwater is always available for the dogs.
Not only is the restaurant known for its animal-friendly nature, but also for its cuisine. The menu features several entrees with canine-friendly names like the Georgia Dawg Pounder and the Greek Hare Hound burgers. Adventurous eaters can try the chain’s Grim Reaper, a mega-burger that features a four-pound all-beef patty, a pound of bacon, half dozen fried eggs, order of onion rings, American cheese, stacked and layered in a specially-made bun.
The menu also features salads, chicken, black bean burgers, turkey, Mahi and more. The restaurant also serves wine and locally grown beer.
“We are a full-service restaurant,” said General Manager Pete Hussey. “We have a relaxed atmosphere and there is always something on the menu that someone sees and likes.”
Restaurant hours are daily from 11:30 a.m. to close and there is an ongoing special on Mondays for $8 burgers from open until 4 p.m. Not only known for its food, Mrs. Geyer said the restaurant will also continue its tradition of supporting children and charities with community-related events.
