Atlanta's most high-profile mall symbolizes the ever-continuing creep of the holiday shopping season.

On Thanksgiving night, as many would-be shoppers were still finishing their turkey and dressing, Macy's at Lenox Square mall held a tree lighting ceremony. The Buckhead department store opened for shoppers at 8 p.m. The rest of the mall opened at midnight.

The mall's official Twitter account shared photos in the wee hours of Black Friday showing parking lots filling up with shopper unbowed by the sub-freezing temperatures.
