The city of Alpharetta is hosting its first Georgia vs. Florida tailgating party Saturday afternoon.
The annual football game, a favorite for fans of either team, will be shown live in Downtown Alpharetta on an eight-by-12-foot LED screen.
Milton Avenue will be closed off so residents can hang out and watch the Bulldogs take on the Gators without driving to Jacksonville.
The pre-game festivities begin at 2:30 p.m. and the game starts at 3:30 p.m.
The usual game day trimmings — hot wings, barbecue and cold beverages — will be available, and some special fun is planned for kids.
Children are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes for trick-or-treating with the Alpharetta Business Association during half-time. Throughout the event they can also have fun with bouncy houses and face-painting.
Families are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and even foam fingers for the event.
Alpharetta Mayor and University of Georgia alumnus David Belle Isle invited residents to “come out and enjoy” the event, adding, “I think it’s going to be a good game.”
The party takes place across the street from City Hall, 2 S. Main St.
