Local gridiron standouts named to all-region teams

A number of local high school football standouts have been selected to all-region teams in honor of their accomplishments on the gridiron this season.

Riverwood placed several of its players on the All-Region 7AAAAA, Division B team, including quarterback Grant Drakeford, offensive lineman Zach Kilgore, wide receiver Jonathan Goodson, linebacker Jermel Johnson and defensive lineman William Holliday.

Punter Harrison McClure was North Atlanta’s lone choice on the All-Region 6AAAAA squad.

In Region 5A, Pace had three selections — wide receiver Kameron Uter, defensive back Denzel Franklin and athlete Kevin Johnson, while running back Clay Pfohl and defensive back Jason Grimes were chosen from Holy Innocents’ and quarterback Elijah Burnette from Mount Vernon Presbyterian.

Marist coach Alan Chadwick was named the Region 6AAAA, Division A coach of the year, while the War Eagles had several players named to the all-subregion team — running back Gray King, offensive lineman Sean McVay, linebackers Jason Morris and Michael Toner, defensive back Nick Carrier, defensive linemen Greg Taboada, Kenneth Brinson and Steven Wallace and long snapper Matt Hill.

In 6AAA, St. Pius X coach Paul Standard was selected as coach of the year, while a number of Golden Lion players were chose to the all-region team — quarterback Jack Spear, running back Ryan Braswell, offensive linemen David Marsau and Phineas Andrews, kicker Thomas O’Leary, defensive tackle Quincey Nieporte, linebacker Daniel Crochet and cornerback Michael Sikorski.

Blessed Trinity also had several All-6AAA selections — running back Casey Bradley, wide receiver Sam Roberts, offensive lineman Zach Mitchler, snapper Tucker Ethridge, defensive tackle Myles Kinder, defensive end Nathaniel Maggio.

All-6AAA players from Woodward are defensive end Ozzie Bunbury, linebackers Jameel Spencer and Austin Roark, punter Alex Robinson and athlete Jollyce Myrick.

Several Whitefield players were tabbed for the All-Region 6A team — quarterback Everett Pollard, running back Richard Sherrell, offensive lineman Everett Joiner, all-purpose player Max Rieves and defensive back Max Kemether.

All-6A selections from Mount Pisgah Christian are offensive lineman Flint Geier, defensive linemen Shingy Chigwere and Dylan Dixon and defensive back Ryan Felice, while Fellowship Christian defensive back Coner Linneen was also chosen.
