Consider it just the tip of the iceberg. The annual wave of such staged hot-ticket events scheduled for this time of year is set to roll in in earnest.

Tonight’s homage to Simon and Garfunkel — the show starts at 8 p.m. — marks the 40th year of the Delta Classic Chastain Music Series. “Just Imagine: A Tribute to John Lennon,” another collaboration with the symphony, June 29, will keep the celebration rolling.

“These are two great shows celebrating terrific artists,” said Chastain Amphitheater Program Director Tanner Smith. “The location of Chastain is perfect, and I think Atlantans love it because they can control their experience.

“If you want the concert to be a romantic outing, an evening with a group of friends, or even a night out alone, it’s made for you.”

Patrons’ ability to control their own food and beverage experience is another big attraction, he added.

The summer months will see no shortage of live entertainment offerings around these parts.

The area’s well-established venues are again set to play host to these showcases, which feature groups and recording artists representing the spectrum of vocal and instrumental sound.

Also at Chastain, the Live Nation Concert Series will feature a lineup of recognizable artists, Jill Scott (July 18) and the Backstreet Boys (Aug. 22) among them.

Fox Theatre

The iconic Midtown venue will host several concerts this summer, including Mindless Behavior July 20. The Coca-Cola Film Festival is among the highlights on the renowned venue’s summer calendar.

“The [festival] offers a movie for everyone: just released blockbusters, cartoons, classics, and everything in between,” said Shelly Kleppsattel, a booking associate at the Fox Theatre. “The movie experience here is unlike anywhere else; there is a sing-a-long featuring the Fox’s beautiful Moller organ, vintage cartoons and, of course, the magic of seeing a movie in Atlanta’s 1929 movie palace.”

The theatre will also play host to the personalities from popular TV show, “Mythbusters,” Aug. 30.

Heritage Sandy Springs’ Concerts by the Springs series of free monthly outdoor concerts at Heritage Green Park are experiencing a spike in popularity.

The next show, featuring A-Town A-List, is scheduled for July 14. Heritage also hosts Rhythm and Brews, a monthly Thursday night series of concerts. The next one is June 27 with von Grey.
