It will be the Battle of Buckhead for the Class AA state baseball championship as Westminster hosts Lovett in a best-of-three series, beginning Saturday.

The first two games are scheduled for Saturday, with game three -- if needed -- to be played Monday.

Lovett defeated Benedictine 9-2 in the third and deciding game of its semifinal series in Savannah Wednesday, after winning the opening game 7-1 and losing the second contest Tuesday.

The Lions scored four runs in the top of the third inning -- with Brant Wells hitting a two-run triple. They added four in the sixth -- with a three-run double by Sean Reagan being the decisive blow -- and one more in the seventh to clinch the win.

Westminster advanced with a two-game sweep of Pepperell, winning game one 1-0 Monday and clinching the series with a 5-1 win in the second game Tuesday.

Hays Meyer threw a no-hitter and had seven strikeouts to take a complete-game win on the mound in the opening contest for the Wildcats.
