Main Event Entertainment — a family entertainment center featuring bowling, arcade games, laser tag and more — opened its first location in the state last week in Alpharetta.

The new center is the first of seven the company will open across the U.S. over the next year and the first of two it will open in Georgia.

The new 65,000-square-foot Main Event Entertainment center in Alpharetta is at 10700 Davis Drive off of Westside Parkway, next to Sam’s Club.

This property has been vacant since the Home Depot Expo Design Center closed in 2009.

“This is a great opportunity to be in a building that sat empty for a lot of months and years and see all the jobs being created in the area,” said Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Members Services Director Deborah Lanham at last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

According to Amanda Ray, a spokeswoman for Main Event, the new center has brought more than 100 jobs to the area.

Main Event will also open a new center in Atlanta, near Cumberland Mall, later this year as part of its ongoing national expansion.

The company’s “Eat.Bowl.Play.” experience features state-of-the-art bowling, multi-level laser tag, a gravity ropes adventure course, more than 100 interactive virtual/video games, regulation size billiard tables, full-service bars, a full dining menu and free Wi-Fi access.

Main Event has locations throughout Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, Lubbock and San Antonio.

In addition to the Atlanta and Alpharetta locations the company has announced plans to open centers in Warrenville, Ill., Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla., as well as San Antonio and Pharr, Texas.
