Roland Seim entered the lineup for the Galloway boys’ basketball team in the last two weeks of the 2011-12 season and made an immediate impact.

The sophomore guard has continued to build on that success early in the ’12-13 campaign.

Seim is averaging about 16 points a game to lead the team in scoring and help guide the Scots to a 5-4 record through Thursday.

He picked up the pace in December, scoring a career-high 32 points — including a school-record seven 3-pointers — in Galloway’s 64-61 overtime victory over Temple Dec. 14 and 22 points in the Scots’ 62-57 win over Our Lady of Mercy Dec. 11.

“He’s definitely our go-to scorer,” Galloway coach Jim Hilleary said. “He doesn’t just shooter jumpers — he attacks the basket and he kicks it out to his teammates when he doesn’t have a shot. But, he attacks the basket with control — he doesn’t get out of control.”

Hilleary is as impressed with Seim’s work ethic and scoring prowess.

“He’s the hardest working kid on the team in terms of the work he put in during the offseason,” Hilleary said. “He’s a gym rat, and I frequently see him working on his game.”
