Hitting in the clean-up slot in Northview’s lineup, Titan senior Jason Delay has been the driving force behind one of the more potent offensive attacks in 7AAAAA.

Through 16 games the Northview catcher has homered eight times, has a team-leading 20 runs-batted-in and scored 18 runs.

“Jason works hard at becoming a better play every day and he understands the intricacies of the game, which help him become a well rounded hitter,” said Northview baseball coach Josh Bartlett before pointing out Delay’s “quick bat” as the key to his offensive success this spring.

Hitting .396 on the season, the senior slugger sports a .547 on-base percentage and a mind-boggling 1.105 slugging percentage — a stat driven by his 16 extra-base hits and propensity for finding the gaps in the outfield.

His power surge at the plate also includes seven homeruns in region play, four straight games with a long-ball in March and a two homer game in a 15-10 win over Sprayberry.

Delay, who signed a scholarship to play baseball at Vanderbilt, has also been a defensive weapon for Northview, managing a young pitching staff while playing top-notch defense behind the dish.
