With a pair of wins over top-10 ranked Milton and Wheeler last week, Roswell’s basketball program let the rest of 5AAAAAA know that they were here to play.

The victories — a 70-60 win over Milton and a 72-69 triumph against Wheeler — had a lot to do with the play of Hornet point guard Sean Brennan, a senior that combined to score 47 points in the two games.

“Sean controlled the pace in both games and then finished off each game with numerous clutch free throws,” Roswell basketball coach Ty Phillips said.

Brennan went 14-of-15 from the charity-stripe against No. 6 ranked Milton and 8-of-9 from the line against No. 3 ranked Wheeler. The senior is averaging 20 points and 4.4 assists per game through Roswell’s first eight contests.

Brennan’s play comes as no surprise to Phillips, noting that the North Florida signee showed what he could do last winter when he averaged 16 points per game as a junior and was a unanimous all-region pick.

“Sean is the best point guard I’ve coached in 15 years of high school basketball. He understands much more than just his role; he understands what we need as a team during key stretches of games.

“He has an unbelievable work ethic both on and off the court and is a great representative not only for our program, but also our school and our community.”
