However, Mt. Zion senior Cody Simmons is that player and those are his numbers against Stockbridge (a scrimmage game), Washington, Pebblebrook and Northgate, respectively.
“It comes from hard work in practice,” Simmons said. “The ball is like a magnet to me. I’ve been doing it every since I was little. This is my first time playing school ball so I just try to give it my all.”
“He’s doing a great job,” Mt. Zion basketball coach Maurice Triche said. “He’s consistent and persistent on the boards. A hard worker who is dedicated to the game. You know you got something special.”
As a result, opponents have to always be aware of Simmons’ whereabouts along with Jacksonville signee JR Holder.
“It gives us that 1-2 punch with JR on the outside and him on the inside,” Triche said. “It’s really a good combination for what we are trying to do.”
Simmons said he would really like to play for a college in Georgia while majoring in math or accounting.
