Cole Higbie the quarterback and Cole Higbie the safety gave Mount Paran all kinds of trouble on Sept. 14.

The senior iron man rushed for two touchdowns, threw for another and had an interception to swing the momentum in Landmark Christian’s favor en route to a 28-10 road victory against Mt. Paran.

“Cole made some great plays at safety that included several punishing tackles and a huge interception at a key point in the game,” Landmark coach Wayne Brantley said. “He also took the game over offensively at quarterback out of the wildcat formation.”

Higbie, who only played safety last year, finished with 73 rushing yards as the War Eagles improved to 2-2 before their bye last week.

“Changing from defensive mode to offensive mode is always different but all in all it’s not too bad,” Higbie said.

“It is really amazing to see him perform at such a high level on offense and defense,” Brantley said. “It takes a very special player to excel on both sides for a whole game. I think he is the best safety in Class A and one of the best all-around players in Class A.

Higbie has a 3.6 GPA and hopes to play football or baseball in college.
