Daniel Topping usually makes a strong contribution on the mound for Holy Innocents’.

While the senior has continued his pitching success, he has especially raised his game at the plate.

In a recent five-game stretch, Topping went 11-for-13 with two home runs and six RBIs to lead the Golden Bears to a 5-0 record.

He was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in a 4-1 victory over Our Lady of Mercy March 26, then was 4-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a run scored in a 6-4 win over Landmark Christian and had a home run and two RBIs each in a 6-1 defeat of Strong Rock Christian April 2 and a 7-1 triumph over Cambridge April 5.

“He has really stepped up,” Holy Innocents’ coach D.C. Aiken said. “Obviously, senior leadership is the first thing he brings. His bat has certainly been a surprise and his pitching is exactly what we thought it would be.”

Topping will be continuing his baseball career on the college level after signing with Birmingham Southern.
