Grant Haley has been a reliable jack-of-all-trades on the gridiron for Lovett this season.

The junior made a big impact on offense at running back with 85 yards rushing and a 14-yard touchdown run in the Lions’ 27-0 victory over Coosa in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs Nov. 16.

He also played a big role in Lovett’s 31-30 win over Greater Atlanta Christian the week before, rushing for 101 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown and catching three passes for 44 yards and a score to help the Lions clinch the Region 6AA title.

Haley has been a force on the defensive side at cornerback with five interceptions — two of which came in a 24-7 victory over Blessed Trinity Aug. 31 — and on special teams with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 24-21 win over Wesleyan Oct. 27.

“Grant has had a great season for us in every phase of the game,” Lovett coach Mike Muschamp said. “He has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, he leads the team in interceptions with five and he has averaged 8 yards every time he touches the ball for us on offense.”

Muschamp praises Haley for his humility and work ethic as much as for his skill on the football field.

“He is one of our hardest workers,” Muschamp said. “He has done a great job of being the example of hungry and humble.”
