The junior has already earned a spot in this year’s state meet after winning the 1-meter diving competition at the Madeline Brown Invitational at Emory University Dec. 14.
Moncino racked up 588.90 points in the 11-dive event, breaking the meet record of 585.35 that was set by former Alpharetta diver Jack Nyquist – now diving on the college level at North Carolina – in 2010.
He is undefeated so far on the diving platform this season, finishing first in a couple of 6-dive competitions.
Moncino scored 315.35 points in a season-opening meet against Woodward Nov. 13 and 302.30 points a competition with Atlanta International, Mount Vernon and Walker (302.30) Nov. 20.
It has been a successful diving career at Pace for Moncino, who was state runner-up in the Class A-AAAAA competition as a freshman in 2012 before claiming the top prize last year with 554.35 points.
He is currently the school record-holder in both the six-dive (342.95) and 11-dive (599.95) events and has earned All-American honors from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association each of his first two years.
