“I got accepted into Georgia Tech and Georgia Tech, but I really wanted to continue playing baseball,” said the pitcher and outfielder Davis.
In addition to signing with Morehouse on May 7, Davis was also a recipient of the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship.
“I just applied to the school and they awarded me with it,” said Davis, who has a 3.88 grade-point average. “It’s just a blessing and I know I got to stay on my grind.”
This past season, Davis had a batting average of .454 and an ERA of 1.75 for the 11-11 Panthers. He will now join the Maroon Tigers, who earned a 9-28 record this year.
“Along with a few other guys who are coming, hopefully we can start something great,” Davis said. “Morehouse baseball has been in a slump but we can make a name for Morehouse and do something good in the next four years.”
Davis will be the next member of his family to attend the school.
