On Feb. 27 against visiting Alexander, King scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 78-68 victory, which placed South Atlanta in the Class AAAA Final Four.
“Getting the Final Four really took a lot of hard work and dedication throughout the season,” said the 6-foot-4 shooting guard. “From Day 1, we said we were going to get this ring.”
Along with King’s crowd-pleasing steal and dunk during a surge in the third quarter, his biggest points were the four free throws he made during the Hornets’ game-clinching, 12-0 run in the fourth quarter.
“Fortunately, we have good guards and we can normally handle pressure,” South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick.
Unfortunately, King and the Hornets fell a step short of this goal, following a 77-51 loss against Eagles Landing last Saturday despite 18 points from the senior.
With his size, ability to handle the ball well and shooting range, King is definitely built to play basketball on the next level. He has yet to decide where will possibly play but said he plans to major in sports medicine.
