Thanks to junior midfielder Shadrack Nsukami, the Tucker boys’ soccer team was able to prepare for the playoffs on a high note.

Despite an injured groin and ankle, Nsukami, who is from Zaire, came off the bench and scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Stephenson on April 23, resulting in the Tigers finishing 7-3 in the region.

“Every single time he goes out on that field he battles 110 percent and he leaves everything out on the field,” Tucker coach Tim Newmyer said. “He has that toughness that some of our players are still working on getting and that is why we like him so much.”

Newmyer is also high on Nsukami because of his ability to keep things in order on the field.

“He is a playmaker who can control the tempo and is technically gifted,” Newmyer said. “The stuff he does is amazing with the ball. He will embarrass you if you let him.”

“I always try to be focused and disciplined,” Nsukami said. “Take care of the tempo of the game.”

A big fan of Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Nsukami would also like to play professionally.

“Ronaldinho is best player ever,” he said. “I always watch him play. He controls the ball and can do everything. I want to play like him.”

Unfortunately, Tucker's season ended Tuesday following a 2-0 setback to Gainesville.
