Tomas Perez has played a big role in the success of the Atlanta International boys’ soccer team the last three years.

The 2014 season has been more of the same for the junior center back, who has 12 goals and six assists to lead the Eagles to No. 1 in the latest Class A state poll.

Perez helped the school get a crucial 3-2 win over Buckhead and Region 5A rival Galloway March 21, scoring two of the Eagles’ goals in that game.

“Tomas is a real talented player who’s real strong on possession and is a real strong finisher,” Atlanta International coach Matt Padula said.

Said community coach Jeff Welp, “Tomas is a fantastic player. He’s kind of a fixed product. We have a good possession-based team and Tomas makes us that much better.”

Perez, who was a key member of Atlanta International’s Class A state runner-up team as a freshman in 2012, also plays club soccer for the North Atlanta Soccer Association.
