On the gridiron, on the diamond and in the classroom, Alpharetta’s Josh Dobbs was nothing short of dominant during his senior year.

A rifle-armed quarterback in the fall, Dobbs led all of Class AAAAAA in passing with 3,625 yards and 29 touchdowns. While helping Alpharetta to a 7-4 record he was named first-team All-State, 6AAAAAA Player of the Year and the North Fulton Neighbor Player of the Year.

As a pitcher and infielder for the Raiders baseball team this spring, Josh posted a .325 batting average at the plate, struck out 43 hitters on the mound and had a 2.43 earned run average through 37 innings pitched. At the conclusion of the season he was placed on the 6AAAAAA All-Region first team and listed as one of eight athletes on 6AAAAAA’s All-Academic Team for his work in the classroom.

That work in the classroom included him never missing a day of school from kindergarten through 12th grade, a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout high school and led to him receiving countless athletic and academic honors — including the Franklin D. Watkins Award, presented annually by the National Alliance of African American Athletes to the nation’s top African American Student-Athlete.

Garnering 21 offers to play Division-I football and seven more to play Division-I baseball, Dobbs opted to sign a full scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee where he will play quarterback for the Volunteers and plans to major in Aeronautical Engineering.
