Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos endorsed Andy Bauman Tuesday in his campaign for the District 6 Sandy Springs City Council seat, Bauman announced Tuesday in a news release.

Bauman faces Patty Berkovitz, Jennifer Steele, John Stoj and Sonja Tonpea in the city's nonpartisan election is Nov. 5. Incumbent Karen Meinzen McEnerny is not seeking re-election.

The mayor joins current District 3 City Councilman Chip Collins, who previously endorsed Bauman in the District 6 contest.

“I have gotten to know Andy during the past four years with his creation of the Sandy Springs Farmers Market, which has been a wonderful addition to our community," Galambos said. "I also know Andy has a proven track record of success in business and in our community to continue the important work of making Sandy Springs an even greater place to live, work and play. He shares my views on how we can continue to improve the quality of life in our community in a fiscally conservative and responsible manner. I am proud to endorse Andy Bauman for Sandy Springs City Council.”

In receiving the endorsement, Bauman said, “I am extremely honored and proud to have received the endorsement of Mayor Galambos. She is a giant in our community for having led the efforts to create Sandy Springs, and as our first mayor. Under her leadership Sandy Springs has become a model for the nation, and the world, in how a responsible and fiscally conservative government can be run under our pioneering public-private partnership model. When I am elected, I intend to apply all of my energy towards continuing the great work of Mayor Galambos on behalf of the people of Sandy Springs.”
