The varsity girls’ team finished in first place with 73 points, edging South Forsyth by five and West Forsyth, who placed third with 84 points. Junior Juanita Pardo finished the five-kilometer race with a time of 20:26, a personal best and good enough for sixth in the competition. Sophomore Riley Burr placed just behind her Eagles’ teammate, positing a time of 20:29 for seventh place. Junior Amy Ruiz (21:08) and senior co-captain Abbey Jordan (21:15) finished in 14th and 15th places respectively.
The final scorer for Milton was senior co-captain Katie Robinson, who ran the distance in 22:11. The other women’s team runners at the meet were Victoria Wagner, Rachel Cronin, Hallie Howell, Alyssa Milton and Emily Velez.
The varsity boys’ team placed second in their competition behind South Forsyth and ahead of third-place team Cherokee.
Sophomore Clay Marshall placed third out of 183 finishers running a time of 17:10, which was one of the best times of his career. Fellow sophomores Jack Bluth and Matt McGorrey placed 13th and 18th respectively, finishing under the 18-minute mark. Junior Preston Meade’s time of 17:59 was good enough for 21st. Other Milton male runners included Connor Cole, John Fravel and Jacques DuPlessis.
Both teams will return to action at the Covered Bridge Invitational at Gerrard Landing Park in Roswell Saturday.
