There are still two opportunities for residents to listen to live music, mingle and enjoy shopping and food from vendors — Thursday and Aug. 22.
Both concerts will be on the front lawn of the College Park Auditorium, 3631 Main St., beginning at 7 p.m.
Attendees are welcome to bring picnic baskets and lawn chairs.
Roshawn Buxton, promotions committee chair for the College Park Main Street Association Inc., came on board with the association in May and already has become very invested in making this event a staple in the community.
“I’m not sure how well this series went over last year, but I know that we didn’t do vendors,” she said. “That is one of the things we’re trying to do this year — solicit more people, just get more people out to see what is going on in [College Park].”
Buxton said aside from getting more residents out in the community, outdoor events like concerts are great for local merchants and businesses.
“The more people the [concert series] brings out, the more customers it’ll bring to the merchants,” she said. “[We want to] create a sense of community where the merchants and community will start to mesh together and help us grown fiscally and financially.”
More events like the concert series are being planned to establish a greater sense of community and funnel financial growth into the city, according to city Business Development Manager Erica Rocker-Wills.
“By sponsoring outdoor events that are on a weekday and after 5 p.m., we are beckoning citizens, employees and guests to hang out and enjoy what we have planned for them,” she said. “It makes a great date night and a fine precursor to our fifth annual wine stroll, which will be held on Oct. 3.”
