Police reports of note from the Atlanta Police Department Zone 2, which includes Buckhead, and the Sandy Springs Police Department from Oct. 27 through Nov. 7.

- Provided by Atlanta Police Officer L. Illery and Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose

o STICKY FINGERS: At a bank/savings and loan at 1700 Monroe Drive in Atlanta Nov. 1, the suspect, a former employee, was taken into custody after allegedly having embezzled $15,200 from a drawer at the bank over a three-month period.

o KNUCKLEHEAD, LITERALLY: At Johnny’s Hideaway at 3771 Roswell Road in Buckhead Oct. 27, a man was dancing with a woman on the dance floor when the suspect cut in front of him. When the victim asked the suspect to move out of his space, the suspect head-butted the victim, causing a one-inch gash under the victim’s right eye. Grady EMS responded to the scene, but the victim refused transport.

o EX-ES AND MONEY: At the 700 block of Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs Nov. 5, a woman told officers she made a deal with her ex-boyfriend to purchase a car at auction for $5,800. She gave him the money and a third person was supposed to drive the car to Atlanta. The car was not delivered. The ex-boyfriend and the other man refuse to return calls.

o REALITY CHECK: At a bank branch at 5555 New Northside Drive in Sandy Springs Nov. 4, a teller said a female in a white car entered the drive-through lane and wanted to cash a check for $3,000. The suspect provided an Alabama license, but the teller noticed she didn’t look like the person on the license. The woman also provided a Wells Fargo bank card as further proof of ID. The teller contacted the person on the account and found that the person knew nothing of this. The suspect promptly drove off.

o WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE: At the 5900 block of Hilderbrand Drive Nov. 2, at about 2:30 a.m. an officer drove up on a woman who was in her car and appeared to be sleeping. He woke her and she said her friends took her keys. It was clear she had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol. The officer finally found the woman’s mother who came and took her home.

o INVISIBLE MAN: At the 1000 block of Calibre Springs Way Nov. 5, a Sandy Springs police officer was called to the apartment residence to assist a Fulton County marshal who had a burglar trapped in a back bedroom. The officer and the marshal forced a rear bedroom door open and found the suspect hiding under the mattress. The suspect was noticeably disturbed at the time of his arrest, evidenced by his urine-soaked jeans. The suspect had forced his way into the apartment through a door. The resident told the cops the man was her ex- as of August. He had apparently entered the apartment to recover some items he deemed his. Not knowing he was in the apartment, she entered and found him lying on the hallway floor. The Fulton County marshal is the apartment courtesy officer who was notified and responded to the scene. The suspect was later arrested and charged with burglary.

The names and charges above are from area arrest warrants and crime reports. A warrant is merely an accusation of a crime and accused people are innocent until proven guilty.
