In the spirit of the holiday season, the Chattahoochee Nature Center will host its third annual Reindeer Day Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is open to all ages and is included in the price of general admission. Those interested in attending can bring a picnic lunch to the nature center at noon and wait for the scheduled events to begin at 1 p.m. An interactive, winter-themed show will kick off the event, followed by informational lessons on how various animals adapt to surviving Georgia winters. Assorted crafts will also be available throughout the entirety of the event. In addition to meeting with the live reindeer present, special guest Santa Turtle will also be roaming around to meet the public. While a campfire, various crafts and an exploration table will be available at the event, the true focus of Reindeer Day is the live reindeer themselves.

“The magic of Christmas is the knowledge that Santa is coming. At Reindeer Day, children connect this fantasy to reality by seeing the live reindeer that actually pull Santa’s sleigh,” said Lynn McIntyre, senior director of community relations at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. “We’ve even welcomed many adults to this event who come without children, simply so that they can revisit the magic of their own childhoods.”

Previous Reindeer Days have drawn crowds of hundreds of local residents, and McIntyre anticipates an even larger turnout this year.

“Reindeer Day provides an opportunity for residents of all ages to come out to the nature center and make holiday memories together,” said McIntyre.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is at 9135 Willeo Road in Roswell.
