As of 2:30 p.m., Johns Creek has had no power outages reported by Georgia Power or Sawnee EMC. Residents who do become affected by a power outage and who are Georgia Power customers, can report it or monitor it by visiting http://outagemap.georgiapower.com. Residents who are Sawnee EMC customers can call 770-887-2363, or visit www.sawnee.com/storm.

If necessary, residents can seek shelter at one of the city’s fire stations:

Fire Station #61: 10265 Medlock Bridge Parkway (Medlock).

Fire Station #62: 10925 Rogers Circle (Shakerag).

Fire Station #63: 3165 Old Alabama Road (Newtown).

Road conditions:

Sleet and snow will continue to fall intermittently Wednesday. The National Weather Service predicts one to two inches of snow. No roads in Johns Creek are closed, but ice accumulation is making travel on roads very risky.

“We may have lulls in precipitation, but do not let that fool you. More rain, sleet and snow is on the way. This remains a hazardous situation and people should stay off the roads,” said Police Chief Ed Densmore. “We are still under a State of Emergency and we need to keep the roads clear.”

The accumulation of ice on trees makes them dangerous as well. The National Weather Service warns that in addition to falling on streets and power lines, ice-laden tree limbs can fall on cars or even people underneath, causing serious injury or death.

To date, crews have applied 500 tons of salt and sand mixture to city roads and have 400 tons still on hand for use throughout the weather emergency.

City Closings:

All City administrative offices, Municipal Court and recreational facilities will be closed Thursday, Feb. 13.
