The Georgia Department of Transportation and the city of Sandy Springs Sept. 10 will host a public open house regarding planned improvements for the Northridge road interchange at Ga. 400. It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall’s council chambers, 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500

Utility crews are expected to begin their work in mid-September in advance of active construction. The open house is being held to provide residents and motorists an opportunity to see final designs and ask transportation officials questions regarding construction for the bridge and interchange improve-ments. No formal presentation is planned.

The Northridge interchange project will provide capacity and operational improvements to the entrance and exit ramps as well as other intersection improvements to Northridge at Dunwoody Place, Northridge and Roberts Drive and Northridge and Somerset Court. The project includes replacing the existing bridge with the new bridge incorporating both pedestrian access and a bike lane. Operational improvements include additional signage for the northbound exit ramp from Ga. 400 and additional through lane on Northridge to accommodate improved traffic flow. Lane closures and some night work will be necessary during construction.
