As Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month wraps up, Ovarian Cycle, a spring fundraiser for the disease, is offering residents a chance to learn more about the benefit through two fall events.

First, Athleta, a sportswear store at Atlantic Station, is providing more information on Ovarian Cycle Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Ten percent of any purchases made by Ovarian Cycle participants, past or present, will be donated to Ovarian Cycle.

Second, it will host a pool party at the Midtown Athletic Club, the southeast Cobb County venue which annually hosts Ovarian Cycle’s fitness fundraiser. The event will take place today after the last cycling class of the day. Registration officially opens for the March 22 ride.

As of last month, Ovarian Cycle had raised more than $1.8 million nationwide for ovarian cancer research. Symptoms are often vague and not always gynecologic and this can lead to delayed or misdiagnoses.

This year, 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S., and 15,500 will not survive.
