Store Leader Kim Breuner found about 200 customers waiting for the doors to open at 6, she said.
“Shoppers appear to be going to the register with more in their arms, and buying more,” said Breuner.
The parking lot at the store on Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway was mostly full around 9 a.m.
Shoppers picked up such deals as $5 scarves and $8 appliances.
Store official Shannon Mahoney said she arrived at 3:45 a.m. to find customers already lined up for the store’s opening at 6 a.m.
“We are expecting to do well," Mahoney said.
Customer Casey Wood of Dallas said she plans on buying the same amount as last year.
“I made a budget, and I am sticking to it,” she said.
Debbie McLarin, the store's support lead expert, said she has worked 12 Black Fridays at a variety of retailers.
“This year is the biggest year I've seen so far,” said McLarin.
She said she believes that customers now have worked out strategies on how to get the best deals.
