The Petco 5K9 Walk/Run is set for Sunday at Lake Forest Elementary School in Sandy Springs.

Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks is partnering with San Diego-based Petco to host the event, which will also include a pet expo. Residents can run or walk with their dogs.

The 5-kilometer run is at 8 a.m., the 1-mile walk is at 9 a.m. and the awards ceremony is at 10 a.m. The event is one of seven such races across the country this year, according to Petco's website. The Atlanta event will benefit Forgotten Paws, a pet rescue group, and the Petco Foundation.

Registration is $40 for the 5K run and $30 for the 1-mile walk. The school is at 5920 Sandy Springs Circle.
