One of seven selections from Georgia, de Groot is the first Riverwood girls’ soccer player to be chosen for the honor.
De Groot, who has committed to play soccer at Elon, tied the school record with 17 goals as a junior last season and helped lead Riverwood to the Class AAA state quarterfinals in 2011.
She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and was the winner of the George Eastman Young Leaders award from the University of Rochester last year.
