Riverwood junior Ruby Freeman, a Roswell resident, won the 2013 Nick Napolitano Award for the Christopher League at the Northside Youth Organization.

Run by NYO, the Christopher League is a baseball league for children with disabilities and is designed for “buddies” ages 11 and older to assist players in the games.

It’s the second year the NYO has offered the award, named after NYO baseball standout and Christopher League buddy Nick Napolitano, who died in 2011 saving a friend from a drowning accident. The award recognizes the buddy who best exemplifies putting other first.

Freeman aspires to become a pediatric neurologist.
