Hagan will serve for the 2015 to 2016 term.
“District 6900 is the best district there is,” he said Thursday at Roswell Rotary's meeting, where the announcement was made. “Being able to represent you in a couple years is just astounding to me.”
Sponsored by Rotarians Ron Redner, Steve Hyde and Malone Dodson in 1998, Hagan has been at the forefront of many service projects and fundraising ventures in and around Roswell.
Accepting the position, the future district governor recounted his experience joining rotary 15 years ago.
Hagan said he visited the club meetings with Redner, his fraternity brother, for nearly eight years before deciding to take the plunge and become a Rotarian.
“I never once thought I'd be president of this club,” said Hagan, who was Roswell Rotary president from 2008 to 2009. “Much less be the district governor.”
Hagan was informed Saturday night that he'd been chosen as the new governor.
“I will make you proud,” he said to Rotarians in the audience. “I promise to give you 150 percent.”
Hagan will be the second district governor to serve from Roswell Rotary.
Presenting the honor to Hagan was Rotary International District 6900 2012-13 Governor Cheryl Greenway.
District 6900 includes Roswell Rotary, Alpharetta Rotary, North Fulton Rotary, Windward Rotary and more than 50 other Rotary clubs around north Georgia.
