Traveling to Orlando accompanied by parents will be 44 dancers ages 8 through 16 years who will perform three times during their Walt Disney World tour. All of the dancers are from north Fulton.
“We have been rehearsing for this wonderful event since the first of the year,” said Nancy Tolbert Yilmaz, Roswell Dance Theatre Artistic Director. “It is a great honor for our dancers to participate and represent Georgia for this event, and we are excited to have such a large group with so much talent.”
The dancers will be wearing costumes and dance shoes that were specifically designed by Disney for this event. The choreography and music was also produced by Disney and sent to the Tolbert Yilmaz faculty to teach to and rehearse with the dancers. The first performance will be June 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the main street parade at the Magic Kingdom. The dancers will be representing the state of Georgia in the Disney parade.
The second and third performance will be at the Hollywood Studios on June 26 on the Premier Stage.
“This will be the third performance tour for The Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance in the school’s 34-year history,” Tolbert Yilmaz said.
One of the dancers, Gabrielle DuChateau, told Tolbert Yilmaz she was especially excited about this performance tour because she will be performing in front of thousands of people and international audiences.
An A -student at Elkins Pointe Middle School , this is the first trip to Walt Disney World for the daughter of Melissa and Christian DuChateau.
Dancers from The Roswell Dance Theatre and Tolbert Yilmaz dancers have also performed in Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Fiji, Spain, Austria, Italy, Germany, England and Mexico.
