Salon de La Vie, on Canton Street in Roswell, is partnering with The Drake House and its secondhand boutique The Drake Closet to collect gently-used or never-worn wedding gowns.

The salon, owned by Roswell residents Douglas and Angie Bullman, is accepting donations of wedding dresses during the month of June in exchange for 50 percent off all salon services.

The dresses will then go to the Roswell-based organization which provides short-term crisis housing, support and education to homeless mothers and their minor children in the north Fulton area.

The nonprofit provides immediate residential housing to 40 to 50 families per year, paired with an empowerment program designed to provide stability and work toward a goal of self sufficiency.

According to the Bullmans, Salon de La Vie, which is celebrating its eighth year in business, consistently strives to give back to the community.

“Roswell is a community that really supports itself,” said Angie. “This is a great place to live and we’re fortunate to be able to raise our kids here.”

State Sen. John Albers, who helped announce the partnership between the salon and The Drake House, said the team at Salon de La Vie are “heroes in our community.”

Albers continued, “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community, so when they’re giving back to the community, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

The salon will accept bridal gowns from June 1 to June 30. The dresses will eventually be sold through The Drake Closet at a future event.

The Drake Closet is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For more information on the resale boutique, call (678) 682-3551.
