Sandy Springs City Manager John McDonough was among the invited presenters at the recent third annual Smart City Week conference in Yokohama, Japan.

The conference, which wrapped up last week, is designed to bring together some 30,000 participants from across Japan and the world to discuss issues facing businesses, government and individuals pushing for “fundamental change in living a smarter, greener and sustainable life.” The event is organized by Nikkei Business Publications.

McDonough is recognized as a leading authority on the implementation of the public-private partnership model and has presented nationally and internationally on the potential benefits to local government.

Smart City Week offers a variety of programs drawing in a wide range of stakeholders with the goal of developing specifics of city innovation. Sandy Springs was invited to participate, leading a discussion around the city’s public-private partnership concept, specifically its customer-focused service delivery model.
