The Southern Jubilee and Battle of Nash Farm will return to Nash Farm for the second year on Sept. 29 and 30.

Attendees can participate in an arts and crafts festival, eat food authentic of the historic of the Civil War era, watch Civil War re-enactors play out battles and visit the Nash Farm Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept 29 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 30.

The cost for entry is $8 for adults, $5 for students ages 7 to 17 and free for children 6 and under.

Parking is free.

Southern Jubilee’s may be at Nash Farm for the second year in a row, but Cassie Barrow, president of the Friends of Nash Farm, said this is not the first time an event like it has graced the area.

“Officially this is the second Southern Jubilee but it’s not the second Civil War re-enactment,” said Barrow.

According to Barrow, when the county first bought the property where the Nash Farm Battlefield is currently, a steering committee was formed to develop what the usage of the land would be.

The committee came up with a concept similar in function to the Southern Jubilee, featuring food, arts and crafts and reenactments.

Two distinct battles will be re-enacted the jubilee weekend, including the Battle of Lovejoy on 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 and the Battle of Nash Farm at 2 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Tim Knight, a member of the 30th Georgia Company E, gave an estimate of re-enactors that will be present that day.

“It will be somewhere between 600 and 800,” he said.
