Stars and Strikes is not your typical bowling alley.

In fact, when a reporter toured the 51,000-square-foot facility in Sandy Springs last week, the lanes were not even visible when entering.

Scheduled to open Friday, Stars and Strikes will include 28 bowling lanes, eight of which are in a separate Blue Room, which can handle corporate events and parties. It also has a 220-seat restaurant, the 7/10 Grille, plus other seating, bar service, laser tag, an arcade and live entertainment.

“This has all the amenities — a full-service restaurant, arcade, bowling,” said Chris Albano, who co-owns Stars and Strikes with Jack Canouse. “It’s different than your standard bowling alley. We pride ourselves on safety and cleanliness. No smoking in the facility. We’re working with the Sandy Springs Police Department to have [off-duty] officers here on the weekends and the holidays. We put a real premium on cleanliness. We want people to feel comfortable coming over and feel good about it. I think that’s the difference.

“When you come in, it’s nothing like the traditional bowling center. Our name and our food element are going to be very strong. We’ve hired a staff of [veteran] food and beverage people. There’s an element of food and beverage that is second to none. It’s not bowling alley food. It’s going to be an excellent dining experience.”

Prices for bowling start at $24.99 per lane per hour and include rates for larger groups, including businesses. There are discounted rates some days and nights.

Its other locations are in Cumming, Dacula/Lawrenceville, Dallas and Stone Mountain. Albano said he and Canouse decided to open their fifth Stars and Strikes in Sandy Springs because there are no other bowling alleys in the city. The closest ones are in Roswell, Midtown and Brookhaven.

For the holidays, Stars and Strikes is offering gift cards of any denomination.
