Headlining the musical entertainment is 1970s soul group The Stylistics, whose members Herbert Murrell, Airrion Love, Harold (Eban) Brown and Jason Sharp will perform an array of hits including “Betcha by Golly Wow,” “I’m Stone in Love with You,” and “Break Up to Make Up.”
According to Georgia International Convention Center Executive Director Mercedes Miller, other musical guests include a College Park favorite, the 911 Band, and an all-male gospel group, Men of Praise.
“This is the seventh year for our family-friendly Cityfest event and we feel it gets more enjoyable with each passing year,” Miller said.
The emcee is radio personality Mixx Master Mitch from radio station KISS 104 FM.
Something new has been added to the event this year, Miller said, which encourages audience participation from those 16 and under.
“We are planning a rap contest,” she said, “and prizes will be given to the winners.”
Doors to the event, which is known as the largest indoor city festival in the metro Atlanta area, will open at 4 p.m.
Miller said the convention center will have more than 64,000 square feet of the complex occupied by Cityfest activities.
Admission is free.
In addition to a kids’ play zone area, complete with moon walks, other inflatables and free popcorn, each city department will be represented with a booth and display, staffed by employees available to answer questions.
In addition, the event will include a free health fair and voter registration booth.
Also planned is a citizen of the year award presentation by Mayor Jack Longino and city council members Ambrose Clay, Joe Carn, Tracey Wyatt and Charles Phillips Sr.
The convention center's location is 2000 Convention Center Concourse , Atlanta 30337.
